For current owner, Martin Oncina, jewelry has always been a way of life. During his childhood, he intently watched as his father tended to his jewelry store in San Francisco, (then Burlingame) California. There he learned the ins and outs of the business and naturally developed his passion for fine jewelry that persists today. Rather than simply taking over the family business, he chose to broaden his experience and apply what he learned from his father and family to a corporate setting. That passion and desire led him to Nieman Marcus. There, Martin became a master in precious jewelry, working and studying for 15 years, earning recognition as a top salesman and becoming department manager. During these years, Martin developed a loyal clientele comprised of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and investors living in the nearby suburbs of Atherton, Palo Alto, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Portola Valley, Woodside and Burlingame. All of this success was based on the integrity he'd formed in the early years with his father.
With both sisters having their own jewelry stores, Marty felt as though his time had come. His vision was clear, but he wanted more than just a store. He was looking to create a boutique experience without making clients feel intimidated. He wanted a gallery to exhibit the jewelry and double as a warm environment, enticing people to just "stop by and say hello". Oncina Fine Jewelry opened its doors in December, 2007 to outstanding support. Well-rounded in the business of jewelry, Martin has merged his successful career at Nieman Marcus with past family business experience. Bearing a vast wealth of accumulated knowledge, he commands the front position, as representative of his own products and services under the Oncina name. A name which has become synonymous with excellence in customer service and elegance in design. Today, Martin continues to build on these very characteristics and traditions to create a more perfect experience for his growing clientele.
